Contacts

Manage the people you connect with — add, verify, and message contacts.

The Contacts app lets you manage the people you connect with in webAI. Add contacts, see who’s available, and establish trusted cryptographic connections.

Adding contacts

There are several ways to add someone:

Pairing code

The most secure method. Open the Contacts app and tap Show My Code to display a 6-digit pairing code that refreshes every 30 seconds. The other person enters your code on their device. Both sides exchange cryptographic keys automatically — and each of you appears in the other’s contact list as a trusted connection.

Device ID

If someone shares their ODID (unique device identifier) with you, paste it into the Add by ODID field. The contact is saved immediately. This method doesn’t perform the key exchange that pairing does — it can be upgraded later.

From a profile

If you’re viewing someone’s profile — from a space or the launcher — tap Add Contact to save them to your list directly.

From a conversation

You can add someone as a contact from a direct message thread in a space. Contacts are not added automatically — you choose who to add.

Removing contacts

To remove a contact, open their profile and remove them. Once removed, the contact stays removed — even if the other person still has you in their contacts, the system will not re-add them on your side.

What happens after

Once a contact is added, you’ll see their presence status — whether they’re online, away, or busy. You can message them directly from the Messages app, and any messages sent while they’re offline are delivered when they come back.

Contacts added through the pairing code method have full cryptographic trust established from the start, meaning your communication is end-to-end encrypted and verified.
